ABOUT
This exclusive two-week training program offers dancers the opportunity to immerse themselves in the technique, artistry, and legacy of American jazz dance pioneer Jack Cole.
Jack Cole developed the first codified jazz dance technique by synthesizing influences from the diverse movement traditions he studied, including African and Afro-Caribbean dance forms, Classical Indian dance, and Lindy Hop/Swing. His groundbreaking work laid the foundation for countless contemporary dance styles and influenced numerous legendary artists, including Bob Fosse and Jerome Robbins.
Through this dynamic, integrative training experience, dancers will engage deeply with Cole’s kinesthetic approach to movement, exploring its connection to the cultural roots of jazz while cultivating greater technical clarity and embodied awareness. Participants will also train in contemporary and commercial jazz styles, examining how Cole’s legacy continues to inform and shape today’s movement vocabulary.
For 9 days, participants will be immersed in a mindful, research-driven creative environment. By bridging historical practice with contemporary application, this program positions Cole’s work not just as an archival study, but as a living and evolving artistic language. Dancers will investigate how the principles underlying Cole's technique and style can be synthesized into their own creative practice and expand their versatility, mind-body connection, and artistic expression.

PROGRAM A: COLE TECHNIQUE + FOUNDATIONS

This program emphasizes a strong focus in acute technical and artistic training, building a foundational relationship with the Cole Technique and style, as well as the cultural and contemporary forms tied to it. At the end of Week 2, participants will have the opportunity to capture professional photos and footage of phrase work developed throughout the program for their personal use.
QUALIFICATION: Applicants must have intensive professional dance experience and training. Prior experience with the Cole Technique is not required.
PROGRAM B: COLE TECHNIQUE + DEVELOPMENT

This program is split into two sections:
WEEK 1: TRAINING
Geared towards deepening technical prowess and artistic voice, training in the Cole Technique and style, as well as the cultural and contemporary forms tied to it.
WEEK 2: RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
The development of new work under the leadership of choreographer and Artistic Director Cam Loeser. Structured as a proper developmental and rehearsal process.
The program will culminate with an Industry Showing where participants will present the work developed during the process for industry professionals.
QUALIFICATION: Applicants must have intensive professional dance experience and training. Prior experience with the Cole Technique will be strongly taken into account.

CAM LOESER is the Artistic Director of the nonprofit COLE JAZZ and its dance company The NEW Jack Cole Dancers. As the leading steward and innovator of Jack Cole’s historic legacy, Cam teaches the Cole technique and creates new work in the Cole style, ensuring that Cole’s artistic voice continues to persevere, evolve, and reach new artists and audiences across the globe.
Cam is the Director & Choreographer for The NEW Jack Cole Dancers’ CLUB ACT, an Immersive jazz dance production that first premiered at the Mastercard Midnight Theater in 2024. CLUB ACT recently celebrated a residency through the CUNY Dance Initiative at LPAC’s Little Theater, and will soon return to New York for an ongoing run, with engagements in London and India on the horizon. Through COLE JAZZ’s global education initiative, Cam teaches the Jack Cole technique to professionals and pre-professionals alike in New York, and has developed or participated in training programs in London, Maine, California, Japan, and Mexico. Cam also teaches Cole Technique through the Verdon Fosse Legacy and UPROOTED, and will soon bring the Cole legacy to China, Finland, and Paris for the first time.
Before launching COLE JAZZ, Cam was Associate to the late Broadway choreographer and Fosse prodigy Chet Walker. Under Chet’s wing, Cam acted as Associate Choreographer for the Broadway Revival of PIPPIN’s international engagement, assisting Chet in remounting the production in Tokyo in 2019, and representing Chet for its remount in Sydney in 2020, and again in Tokyo in 2022. Having charged the modern-day resurgence of Cole’s legacy, Chet passed on his knowledge of the Cole technique and style to Cam throughout their years working together on Chet’s Jack Cole project in New York and London.
Cam also served as the Resident Director/Assistant Choreographer for the CHICAGO National Tour, Dance Captain/ Swing for the CHICAGO UK Tour’s engagement in Tokyo, and Tour Choreographer for the Finding Neverland National Tour.Having learned from Chet’s example the importance and responsibility of passing on knowledge, Cam has dedicated his career to honoring and advancing the legacy of Jack Cole and American Jazz dance. Through this charge, Cam hopes to reinstill greater integrity into the current Jazz dance scene, and foster deeper widespread awareness and respect for where this incredible art form comes from.
EVY VAUGHAN She/Her (Associate/ Educator) is a performing artist and educator originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. She received her training at Pace University in New York City, graduating from the Pforzheimer Honors College summa cum laude with her BFA in Commercial Dance and a minor in Biology.
Notable performance credits include: National Tour of CHICAGO (Mona, Roxie u/s), A CHRISTMAS STORY (Ensemble, Mother u/s, Dance Captain), THE PRODUCERS (Usherette, Showgirl u/s), WEST SIDE STORY (Minnie), TARZAN (Ensemble). Evy has also danced for AIDA Cruises (CARNIVAL), based in Germany.
Evy is a founding member of the COLE JAZZ Team, and has danced with The NEW Jack Cole Dancers for 2 seasons. Her favorite performances with the company include CLUB ACT (Principal Dancer), RUNYONLAND (Sarah Brown), and clocking her sister in the face on ‘Team Pup’ in RHAPSODY (Ensemble). Evy is privileged to say that THE BIRTH OF THE BLUES was originally set on her by Cam Loeser, a solo that many others will dance, and feel, for generations to come.
Additionally, Evy is an avid dance teacher and is extremely passionate about dance pedagogy and education. She created a new Jazz Dance syllabus for professional dancers entitled JTiCH (Jazz Technique in Character Heels), specifically based on the biomechanics of training in character heels. Evy is also certified in Personal Training (NASM), is a coach at Orange Theory Fitness, and aspires to hold a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She is represented by Suite Talent Agency.
